The objective of this study was to report a clinical case of diagnosis and treatment of mucocele and to present a review of the literature that deals specifically with this topic. The clinical case refers to the care referred to a patient who sought the Stomatology Clinic complaining of the presence of a lesion in the left jaw, which emerged was identified eight months ago, also reporting the completion of an exodontia of # 26 times ago. The patient was treated with clinical procedures and a negative aspiration puncture, followed by an excisional biopsy based on the Caldweel-Luc technique. From these procedures, it was possible to remove a content with thick consistency and greenish color, whose origin was identified in the secretion of mucus. The conclusions of the study point out that the accurate and safe diagnosis of any abnormalities in the maxillary sinuses is indispensable the knowledge about salt anatomy and variations, since they endow the dental professional with the capacity of a good interpretation of the situation of his patient and, in this way, facilitate the most appropriate choice for treatment.
