Baking as a tool for rural development: an experience at the Capim I Farm in Araripina (PE)

Abstract

This article presents a qualitative report on baking as a tool for rural development at the Capim I Farm Association in the municipality of Araripina (PE), conducted by SENAI Pernambuco - Innovation and Technology, supplemented by a bibliographic study. The study aimed to investigate how practical baking classes can contribute to the development of productive and entrepreneurial skills among members of a rural association. The methodology used combined a qualitative experience report, complemented by a bibliographic review conducted in the Google Scholar database, using the specific keywords “Professional Training in Rural Areas” and “Baking within Rural Associations.” The inclusion and exclusion criteria will be based on the relevance, timeliness, and methodological quality of the selected articles, with the aim of highlighting results regarding the importance of professional training in the rural context. The practical classes provided participants with the opportunity to learn professional techniques for preparing, handling ingredients, fermenting, shaping, and baking bread, including French bread and potato bread.During the workshop, members of the Capim I Site Association developed technical, productive, and entrepreneurial skills, as well as autonomy in production and community leadership, while encouraging collaborative work, production planning, work organization, time management, and creativity. The results and discussions indicated that all participants acquired significant practical knowledge applicable to income generation and the strengthening of local entrepreneurship. In addition, the experience and literature review highlighted the importance of integrating technical knowledge and entrepreneurial practices, strengthening the local economy and community identity. This experience report demonstrates that practical baking courses represent an effective strategy for training rural associations, enhancing economic and social development, and promoting an improvement in the quality of life of members.
