Atenção farmacêutica em pacientes com diabetes Mellitus tipo 2

Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the role of the pharmacist in the clinical management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, focusing on treatment adherence and the reduction of disease-related complications. The aim was to understand the significance of pharmaceutical intervention in promoting comprehensive care for diabetic patients. Method: A qualitative, bibliographic approach was used, analyzing recent articles and studies on the role of the pharmacist in managing Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Data from studies conducted in various clinical and social contexts were analyzed, emphasizing the multiprofessional approach and continuous patient monitoring. Results: The results showed that pharmaceutical intervention is essential for treatment adherence, reducing glycemic levels, and promoting healthy lifestyle habits. Pharmaceutical care, coupled with health education, contributes to preventing chronic complications and improving patients' quality of life. Conclusion: It was found that the pharmacist's role, especially within a multiprofessional care model, is crucial for the effective control of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. The research highlights the need for expanding pharmaceutical care and incorporating more personalized health education strategies.
