Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection is characterized as a chronic condition that, despite advances provided by antiretroviral therapy (ART), remains associated with metabolic alterations, systemic inflammation, and an increased risk of cardiometabolic comorbidities. In this context, dietary patterns play a relevant role in modulating the immune system, inflammatory status, and the prevention of health complications. This study aimed to evaluate the dietary intake of people living with HIV receiving care at a reference unit in the Federal District, Brazil. This was a cross-sectional, descriptive study conducted between December 2024 and May 2025. A convenience sample of 34 individuals aged over 18 years with a recent HIV diagnosis was included. Data collection was performed using a structured instrument administered during a nutritional consultation, assessing the frequency of consumption of different food groups. Data were analyzed using simple descriptive statistics. The results showed a high intake of ultra-processed foods, associated with a low consumption of fresh or minimally processed foods. This dietary pattern may contribute to increased cardiometabolic risk and the persistence of chronic low-grade inflammation. It is concluded that investigating the dietary profile of this population is essential to support nutritional intervention strategies aimed at reducing comorbidities, improving quality of life, and promoting health.
