Abstract

Objective: To analyze comprehensive nursing care for women undergoing hysterectomy, with emphasis on the physical and emotional impacts, emotional support, and health education aimed at understanding the changes resulting from the procedure and strengthening self-care. Method: This is a bibliographic review with a qualitative approach, carried out through the critical analysis of scientific articles, books, and official documents published between 2022 and 2026, in the SciELO, PubMed, LILACS, and Google Scholar databases, in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. Studies addressing hysterectomy in adult women were included, covering its physical and emotional impacts, as well as aspects related to nursing care, with emphasis on emotional support and health education. Results: The analyzed studies demonstrate that hysterectomy significantly affects women’s physical, emotional, and psychosocial health, potentially causing hormonal changes, alterations in body perception, anxiety, insecurity, and impacts on sexuality and quality of life. In this context, the nurse’s role proved fundamental through welcoming care, qualified listening, emotional support, and individualized guidance during the perioperative and postoperative periods. Health education strategies promoted greater understanding of the changes resulting from the procedure, reduced fears, and strengthened self-care, contributing to a safer recovery and better physical and emotional outcomes.
