Abstract

This study aimed to synthesize the available scientific evidence on the use of elastic bandages in the postoperative period of cesarean sections, assessing their effects on the main clinical outcomes. Through a systematic literature review, 29 articles published between 2015 and 2025 were analyzed, selected based on specific criteria and major scientific databases. The results showed that elastic bandages can significantly reduce pain in the first 48 to 72 hours, also contributing to less swelling and greater comfort during movements such as getting out of bed, walking, and positioning for breastfeeding. It is concluded that the technique has good tolerance and a low risk of adverse effects, which reinforces its safety as a complementary physiotherapeutic resource. However, the diversity of protocols, application methods, and evaluation scales used in the studies still limits direct comparisons and hinders definitive conclusions.
